The spa is situated in the middle of the “Alpi Marittime” nature reserve. It is 1368m above the sea level and it is surrounded by a ring a granite mountains, whose peaks are higher than 3000m.
The nature reserve is one of the largest parks of Italy. It is twinned with the neighbouring “Mercantour” French park since 1987. The “Parco delle Alpi Marittime” preserves an alpine area of 100,000 hectares which was awarded the “European Diploma for the Environment” in 1993.
This protected area can boast a faunal richness. You can easily meet flocks of chamois, especially in the morning and in the evening. Other ungulates present in the area are the roe deer, the wild goat and the mouflons, coming from the nearby “Mercantour” park.
The avifauna is extremely rich and varied as well, and it includes almost all the typical species of the Alps, such as the black grouse, the rock ptarmigan and many migratory species. There are seven couples of golden eagles and also the bearded vulture has come back to this area thanks to a European reintroduction project.

There are many paths running along the nature reserve valleys. In the spa surrounding territory there are 15 refuges and high altitude camps. From the spa you can easily get to the “Valderia” botanical gardens where one can follow a naturalistic path that allows to admire the essence of the nature itself. The naturalistic value of the area is represented by its richness in vegetation, which includes about 450 species, and among these a number of endemisms.
Inside the garden there is a nature trail. Along the walk there are numbered observation posts. An handy booklet points out the main features of the species encountered, together with the main geological and landscape features.
